Alyshia was born and raised in Montreal, QC, where as a kid she couldn’t get enough of singing, dancing, and performing. Alyshia also had a deep love for helping others, and went on to study Social Work in University, working in the non-profit sector for many years. After experiencing significant health problems in 2012, she decided that it was time to make some changes in her life, and this is when she found yoga and meditation. She loved how the postures and movement made her body feel, but more importantly, she noticed what a difference yoga made in her stress levels and daily health and lifestyle.
In 2014, she and her partner decided to make an even bigger change in the hopes of further improving their quality of life. They packed up their little car, their two dogs, and headed west to Vancouver, where they've lived ever since.
Since moving to Vancouver, Alyshia has rediscovered her passion for all things movement-related. Rekindling her love of dance, she joined a Brazilian Samba dance group in 2016 and performs on a regular basis throughout the year as well as at various prestigious summer festivals throughout the Lower Mainland. Her yoga practice has helped her maintain the strength, flexibility and balance needed to be a professional dancer, and has helped connect her with an incredible community in her new home.
Alyshia received her 200-hour yoga teaching certification from Karma Teachers College, and has since been on a mission to help as many people as possible discover the incredible benefits that a regular yoga practice can have in their lives. She currently runs her own corporate and private yoga business, helping busy and stressed out individuals find more balance of peace of mind in their lives. When Alyshia’s not dancing or teaching yoga, she can be found hiking, camping or kayaking with her partner and two pups, enjoying the incredible outdoors adventures that B.C. has to offer! She is so excited to spend a few days flowing, laughing and adventuring at the beautiful REO Rafting Resort with you!
Amanda grew up in Squamish, the “Outdoor Capital of Canada”, and spent a great deal of her youth hiking and being outdoors. To stay active during colder months she began to work out at the gym. Eventually she found that while she enjoyed the gym, she wanted to find something that could link her mind and body. Amanda took a Hatha yoga class at the gym where she worked and the rest is history - a yogi was in the making. During college and while working Amanda continued to practice hot yoga and decided after travelling that she wanted to spread her love of yoga all around the world and especially in her home country. During her travels, she also began hula hooping after she saw others expressing themselves in a way that allowed for freedom of body and movement and was inspired to learn more about this unique form of movement and flow.
Amanda has completed a 200-hour Vinyasa training and has 100 hours of training in other styles of Yoga such as Ashtanga and Yin. Amanda has taught volunteer classes in the Downtown East Side as well as paid classes at boutique studios in the Fraser Valley.
Amanda’s wish is to spread the gift of yoga as far as possible and she believes that yoga should be accessible to everyone. She looks forward to getting to know each and everyone on you.
